Recipe Challenge at Fab 'n' Funky

It Challenge day at Fab 'n' Funky again and its my turn to be the hostess!  For my challenge this week I am giving you a recipe!  Please use 1 ribbon, 2 pattern papers, and 3 buttons, brads, or gems.

Amusingly enough, I goofed my own challenge!  I had three on the brain and used 3 leaves...oopsie!

Our sponsor this week is Di's Digi Downloads!  There are tons of adorable images including this freebie, Teddy Pumpkin that I snagged right from their blog :)  I just had to use him so that I could play with my new Fall papers from Bo Bunny...the colors are just rich and gorgeous!

Here he is a bit closer.  I tried again to use the fur coloring technique that Suzanne Dean shared with us at her class.  But mine doesn't lok anything like what she can do :(

To the bottom of the card I added the Fanciful Flourish die from Cheery Lynn Designs and also a trio of Dimensional Small Leaves 2, all cut from bits and pieces of the pattern papers.  I distressed all the leaves and mats with Corduroy ink by Tim Holtz for Ranger.

Okie, dokie...please join in the fun this week and link up to the FNF blog :)  Thanks for stopping in today!   -Cyndi

New Inky Impressions Challenge

It's Team B's turn at the challenge this week, but just wanted to remind you that there's a NEW challenge up on the Inky Impressions Challenge blog...punches or dies!

The Best of Tim Burton...

The Burton Chibis are in the house! In the Simply Betty Stamps web store that is :)  Be sure to head over and pick them up before they are gone, cause I think these babies are gonna sell FAST!!

I have a couple more cards for you today using more of the Burton characters.  First is my all time favorite, maybe because Johnny Depp played him?  It's Edward Scissorhands!  I totally remember the first time I saw this movie and  just fell in love.  Can't even tell you how many times I've seen it since :)

This is like the bestest ever depiction of Edward!  I was going to do a snow scene with him, cause I love when he creates the ice sculptures...but since he's decked in in his hot leather duds I kept it monochromatic, adding some K & Co paper  and then icicles using a Martha Stewart punch and Star Dust stickles.

The snowflake is cut with a Spellbinders die, also with stickles, and then the A Muse "Got Snow" sentiment on top.  Even though it's a pretty CAS card for me, I just love it!!

Next up is Miss Betty Burton...no, she's not really a Burton character, but I know our kick-butt owner Betty Boo would LOVE to be in a Burton film!  She's been colored with copics as well and added to some fun paper from Doodlebug Designs.  I used another Martha Stewart punch...Drippy Goo (who knew Martha could do Halloween so well??)

The Going Batty sentiment and the fun black velvet bats are both from Stampendous!

Be sure to not only head to the Simply Betty Stamps blog to leave some love...but also to the DT blogs!  There will be random winners chosen for one each of the new stamps!

Let's get some discounts going on our Clear stamps, and don't forget these are the new prices, they will not go up October 1st!

All seven new Clear Stamp Chibis for $36.00 use code 7Chibis36
Four new Clear Stamp Chibis for $20.00 use code 4Chibis20

Introducing Sally and Jack

I am soooo excited that today is finally here and we can share cards made with one of my favorite collections EVER from Simply Betty Stamps!  Meet the Burton Chibis!!  (For those who are going, huh?  These are all characters from Tim Burton films!)  Today we are peeking Sally and Jack from The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Emily and Victor from The Corpse Bride.

I have a brand new card that I am so thrilled with using Sally and Jack.  Instead of starting with my papers for this one then picking colors, I started with a picture of Sally and Jack and picked my colors from them, then my papers.  It just happens that this new pad from K & Co went perfectly with their outfits!  Here's a closeup at the lovely couple:

You can also see here the detail on the Spiderweb die from Cheery Lynn Designs.   Its so delicate and gorgeous!!  I cut it out on plain Black Bazzill cardstock then I swiped some Graphite Inka Gold (from Viva Decor) over the top.  For my card base and black layer I cut the center out with Circle Classic Large Silver Stackers, also from Cheery Lynn Designs.  They are WONDERFUL because they have a clear yet marked center so its really easy to place an image directly where you want it within your circle.

I adhered the Spiderweb between the layers with touches of Glossy Accents.  Here's yet one more view of the card from the side, so its easier to see the peek-a-boo window through the web.  Pretty cool, huh??

The last shot is of the detail at the bottom of the card.  I added a strip of striped paper and a small border of black die cut with Border Carnivale from Cheery Lynn Designs.  The crow (and the Boo pennant at the top of the card are from a K & Co sticker pack.

Please join us over at The Simply Betty Stamps blog to see lots more eye candy from the rest of the DT. And be sure to leave comments at my fellow SBS team's blogs for a chance to win!

Be sure to come back tomorrow for MORE Burton Chibis and for Release Day when the will be available in the SBS Web Store!  Thanks for coming by today to visit!  I have blog candy in the post below if you haven't seen that yet :)

Welcome to the Pumpkin Patch

Boo!  I am still totally in Halloween mode, so I thought I'd share another card that I made for the July 2011 Stampendous! catalog.  It uses my three new favorite Pumpkins, Mumpkin,  Pumpkinstein, and Count Jack.  I colored all three with copics then cut them out and adhered them over my Tim Holtz Fence die cut in black over the Purple background.  Are they adorable or what??

Here's a closer look at Pumpkinstein and Mumpkin.  Squeeel!!  Love them :)

Here's the list of the stamps:

A Hard Theme

Ou r challenge this week at Fab'n'Funky is to create a card that's a hard theme for you.  Some of us went in slightly different directions with this "Hard for You" idea...My thing that's near impossible is to work with colors I don't like...I don't like drab, non-bright colors, particularly mustard.

I created this card for the July 2011 Stampendous! catalog.  I used some Best Creation paper with the burgundy gold combo which was really hard for me.  I love the penguin, but I wanted his scarf pink and lime green and turquoise!  OK, I'll make that another time :)  He is part of the set "Penguin Wishes".  And I used "Light Your Way" for the sentiment on my tag.

Please join us this week and create a card out of your comfort zone!  Thanks for popping in today :)

Rock Out!!!

Its all about shapes this week at Inky Impressions!  We want to see any kind of a shaped card from you this week over at the Inky Impressions Challenge Blog :)

I used my brand new Nesting Ovals Dies from Lifestyle Crafts!  And since it was a bit not-wanting-to-stand-up, LOL, I turned it into an easel card!  The cute little mouse is Rock'n'Roll Donnie.  Isn't he a doll!!  I colored him to match my DD's new little hamster Otis :)  The papers are from Best Creation...lots of glitter and bling!

Here's a closeup of him, but its still hard to see the Glassy Glaze I added to his shades and nose.  I also added a touch of Spica Glitter pens to his guitar in Purple and silver.  The sentiment is from an older Stampendous! set thats now retired, but still floating around in some of the big box stores :)

We hope you'll join us this week!  I'm also entering this card into the following challenges:
Paperplay Challenges: Punches and Dies
Crazy Challenge: Men Only
Crafty Creations: Anything but a Square
Papertake Weekly: Creature Comforts

Thanks for coming by today!  Rock out!!  -Cyndi

Steampunk Halloween

Wow!  I have to say now that this line is simply fabulous!  I was a bit scared by the intricate details in these stamps, but once I started to color them I fell in love!!  Today is the first day of peeks for the new Steampunk Halloween line from Simply Betty Stamps.  There are 4 images being peeked today, and I have 2 to show you.

First up is Draco the Ghostly Gentleman. He's my absolute fav!  I kept thinking, where would I see a ghost?  New Orleans?  Paris!!  So I pulled out some Trip to Paris paper from 3 Bugs in a Rug (which just happened to have some lovely scroll patterns as well),  then also adding a touch of extra stamping on the bg paper using the Eiffel tower set from Stampendous!.  Its embossed with Stampendous! Chunky Black Embossing Enamel, then I also inked the edges with my Versamark pad and added more of the Chunky Black there as well.

Draco was colored with copics, then cut out with my new Oval Nested shapes from Lifestyle Crafts (formally QuicKutz).  I LOVE them because they are super skinny ovals, much more so than my spellbinders!  I added around Draco some collaged images also from the Eiffel Tower set in black and Aqua Mist ink (PTI).

My second card uses Bella the Vampiress.  She's so lovely you can't even tell she's a vampire, right?  Well, warning, those are always the dangerous ones!  For Bella I pulled out some brand new paper by Authentique that I picked up at the Southern Women's Show in Charlotte last week.  It was just screaming to be used with these Steampunks :)

I glimmer misted my flowers to match my papers (they started off peach...pretty but NOT a match!)  The circle was cut with a Spellbinders die then run through my Cuttlebug with the Tim Holtz Damask Folder by Sizzix.  The top corner of the text paper I stamped over with the flourish from Stampendous! Damask Chair.  All edges were distressed with Burnt Umber Palette ink.  I also used Karen G's sketch for this layout.

Hope you like my peek back into "history".  Be sure to head over to the Simply Betty Stamps blog to see more samples with these 2 images and the other 2.  AND be sure to leave comments for a chance to win one in digi form!!

Stampendous! Saturday

Good morning!  Its  a wonderfully chilly day again in NC!  I am so happy :)  If you are a local friend be sure to come stop by The Enchanted Cottage today...I will be demoing Fran's Encrusted Jewel Technique!  The Cottage is a wonderful store with tons of stamping and scrapbooking products in stock including lots of the new Stampendous! Fran'tage Essentials!!

Here's a card using Cling Eiffel  Noel.  It didn't make it into the catalog, but its  up on the Stampendous! website!  I used Aged Silver Embossing Enamel on the Eiffel Tower as well as on the edges of the green mat.  The background was sprayed with Green Glimmer Mist then distressed with chalks from Craf-T Products. The background brown base was also stamped with Fall Tendril.

Also, I wanted to remind you about this month's sketch challenge happening at the Stampendous! blog.  You still have until the end of September to play along :)

Hope you are enjoying your weekend!  Thanks for stopping in today!  -Cyndi

There's a New Sheriff in Town!

Howdy!  I'm here today with a bit of inspiration for you using the new Deputy Christopher stamp from Inky Impressions.  He' s just a doll and makes me wish I still had one young enough to play dress-up!

I created a pocket card for today using a regular 11 x 4.25" piece of kraft cardstock.  After it was folded in half, I scored it about 1.25" from the bottom edge to create a flap.  Then turn the card upside down for you base of the pocket.  After I layered some papers on the front and flap I sewed the edges with a zig zag stich and added a ribbon to hold the flap down.  Christopher has been stamped, colored with copics, then cut out and adhered to the outside, along with my sentiment.  Then I added a bandana inside the pocket.  Easy peasy!  (Cling Bandana Stamp is by Stampendous!)

Try creating one of your own pockets.  If you don't want to sew the edges, just add some adhesive down the edges of the inside to keep it shut!  Hope you have a great day :)

Challenges:
Pile it on: Layer It
Speedy the Cat: Use a punch
Ribbon Carousel: Get Punchy

From the Crypt...

It's time again to Open the Crypt on some of my favorite images from the Emo lines!  I have 4 cards for you this morning from the Back to School Emo line and the Everyday Emo line.  All stamps are available in the Simply Betty Stamps webstore.

First up today is Back to School Christian Emo.  I mean, look at those skinny jeans and that priceless look on his face.  Look familiar to anyone with teenage kids?  For Christian I colored him with my beloved copics to match some fun old paper from Basic Grey, added some die cuts and a piece of chipboard.  The arrow I embossed first with White powder then used some Copic reinkers on a Ranger blending tool and added some blending solution then smashed it around.  Since its alcohol based ink it stays right where you want it for a cool tye-died look!

And on to Everyday Christian Emo.  Still that same fun teen attitude, but today he is ready to head off with his friends and skafari.   I included his best pal (which comes along with Christian).

Next is School Girl Lola from the Back to School Emo line.  For her I pulled out some old Bo Bunny stickers to jazz up the card a bit.  Check out her cool earrings :)  This is also my card for this week's Desert Island Crafter's Challenge Itinerary.  (I used this week's Sketch Saturday for my layout)

And last on the agenda today is Back to School Rio.  She's blowing her last bubble before heading to class and being reprimanded to throw her gum out!  Her skullie headband is precious!  All the Emos catch my eye because I love their funky yet cute style!  Unlike any other stamps that I've seen!  And I lurve their huge eyes!  Very fun to color and layer the shades!
